世界地質公園的背景

Background of Global 「 世界地質公園」是由聯合國教

Geoparks Network 成立地質公園的主要目的，是為了達
科文組織所推動的一個工作。

到環境保護與增進區域社經發展，促
進資源的永續發展。藉由提升大眾對

地球遺產價值的認知，並增進對地球
與環境承載力的認識，促使我們能更

明智地使用地球資源，進而達到人與
地之間的平衡關係。

Global Geoparks Network

he concept of the Geopark was originally initiated by
TUNESCO in 1999 and has been subscribed to by many
countries. Under the theme of landscape conservation,
outstanding geological and geomorphological sites were
identified as suitable for sustainable development. In 2009
there are 57 global Geoparks located in 20 countries that are
on the list of UNESCO making the global geopark network a
reality.
Since 1999 many special sites of scientific interest of
geological and geomorphological importance were used
to promote local industries, education, conservation and
tourism. These sites raised awareness amongst the public and
increased attention of management and long term planning
issues.
