Taiwan is an island surrounded by sea. Its location
not only gives it a variety of economic value but also
provides diverse tourism resources. Fulong Beach,
also known as Fulong Bathing Beach, is located at
Northeastern Taiwan. The endless blue sky, floating white
clouds, and gorgeous stretch of golden sand beaches
form a charming landscape and make it a popular
summer resort in northern Taiwan. Every year, a huge
crowd is attracted to join water sports on Fulong Beach.

In addition to a lot of exciting water activities,
the beach, covering 3kms along the coastline with
fine sand in golden color offers a perfect destination
for tourists to have fun as well as a space to create
artistic sand sculptures. Fulong’s reputation of beautiful
golden sand comes from its unique soft and golden
sand (quartz sand). For its soft, highly cohesive white
quartz sands, this beach is acknowledged by the World
Sand Sculpting Association to be the best for making
sand sculptures in Taiwan. Therefore, sand sculpture
event has become one of the grand annual events at
Fulong Beach since 2008 with the efforts and promotion
from the administration. After years of marketing
and promotion, Fulong International Sand Sculpture
Art Festival is not only the most representative sand
sculpture event in Taiwan but also one of the world- class
art events. Last year’s event broke world records with more
than 300,000 travelers attending throughout the summer.

Now in its ninth year, the Fulong International
Sand Sculpture Art Festival has successfully promoted
Taiwan’s tourism industry by attracting visitors from
home and abroad. These tourist attractions and
travel services with better quality have made a step
towards sustainable tourism. On the other hand, the
growing popularity of this event has also promoted the
development of the sand sculpting art. Professional
sand sculptors from home and the world exchange
their artistic ideas to create breathtaking art pieces on
Fulong Beach. The passion and vitality shown from their
sculptures not only shine along the golden beaches but
also achieve an eternal glory.
