2005/Revisit the Trail as a Wonderland
The main theme of the year was ‘Revisit the Trail as a Wonderland’, implying the regrowth and
new abundance of silver grass after the destruction of the previous years typhoon Na-tan. Along
the trail from the Tiger Inscription to Wukou, where silver grass recovered to bloom in its greatest
numbers, visitors were lingering around to take a photo as a memento. In addition to the regular
activities during the festival, such as collecting stamps for souvenirs, hot ginger tea drinks, and DIY
ink rubbings, there were some other new activities this year. Among them were photograph contests
on the Northeast Coast Trails, Poem and Folksong Performances and a Folklore Arts and Crafts

the Tiger Inscription. On the other hand, at Dali Visitors’ Center, a ‘shells DIY’ and exhibition was
offered for the first time. There were also three small Tiger Inscription replicas for visitors to make
ink rubbings. Last but not least, the photograph contest aimed to promote the natural beauty of the
northeast coast by encouraging visitors to get close to nature and have a picture taken as a souvenir.
One last thing deserves to be mentioned. This year was the first strategic alliance of other related
organizations, such as 7-11 convenience store, local travel agencies and hot spring associations. The
cooperation of multiple industries not only provided various preferential tour packages for visitors to
choose from, but greatly broadened local sightseeing development. Admissions for the first weekend
accumulated to eight thousand, setting a new record for the festival
