               鼻頭角的砂岩裡夾有頁岩層,由於頁岩受雨水侵蝕及
            風化的速度較快,因而形成不穩定的邊坡或是深凹的海蝕凹

            壁。本區具有相當多樣的地形景觀,囊括範圍較大的海崖、
            海階與海蝕平臺,與範圍較小的蕈狀岩、交錯層、豆腐岩

            等。龍洞出露的地層是由較北部海岸堅硬的岩石「四稜砂
            岩」(或稱四稜砂岩)所構成,其主要的成分是始新至漸新世
            的石英質砂岩。
