               LATVIAN STORY

Latvian culture, along with Lithuanian, is among the oldest surviving Indo-European cultures. Much
of its symbolism is ancient. Its seasons, festivals, and numerous deities reflect the essential agrarian
nature of Latvian tribal life. The legacy of Latvian mythology is also seen in contemporary Christian
holidays. Latvians are mainly farmers. Our traditional religion is very simple. We live in harmony
with the nature and fellow beings. Early Latvian Religion was positive and optimistic in approach. It
preached possession of virtues and love. Love for one's fellow beings, and love for nature.
