6 埡口

位於兩山交會點，自然形成的凹地，也就是地理學上所稱的「鞍
部」；例如虎字碑所立之處即是「埡口」，由於面迎臺灣北部強
大的東北季風，再加上雪山山脈高山阻擋，季風沿山谷湧升，使
風勢增強，終年不息，附近只有低矮的芒草及地被植物生長。
